TOBYHANNA, PA — A motorcyclist faces multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended with a foot pursuit through a wooded area.
Seth Robert Coughlin, 21, of Blakeslee, was arrested Feb. 26 after an officer with the Pocono Township Police Department attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling north on Route 611 in Tannersville at approximately 5:54 p.m.
Police said the motorcycle had an expired registration belonging to a different motorcycle.
Coughlin fled at a high rate of speed, initiating a vehicle pursuit that lasted approximately 10 miles and reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour, according to police.
The motorcycle became disabled and stopped near the Sunoco gas station on Main Street in Tobyhanna.
Coughlin and a passenger, Todd George, 21, of Scranton, then attempted to flee on foot into a wooded area, police said.
George was quickly apprehended and Coughlin was arrested after a foot pursuit through the wooded area.
Police said Coughlin displayed signs of impairment and marijuana was seized from his person after his arrest.
Both Coughlin and George were transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
Coughlin was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, evading arrest or detention on foot, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
