JAMESTOWN, NY — A woman was arrested after allegedly punching a police officer during a domestic disturbance Thursday evening.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Second Platoon responded to a residence on the east side of the city at about 7:25 p.m. for a peace officer request.

Talisha R. Melendez became disorderly with both police and a male at the scene, according to police.

While officers attempted to separate Melendez from the male, she punched an officer in the presence of three young children, police said.

Melendez continued to be combative with officers after she was advised she was under arrest but was ultimately taken into custody, police said.

She was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where she was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest and harassment second.

Melendez was held pending arraignment by the Jamestown City Court.
