Two arrested on drug charges in Urbana

URBANA, NY — Two Elmira men were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Feb. 4.

Jiven B. Mann, 18, of Elmira, and Ziayre L. Lawton, 19, of Elmira, were taken into custody by deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies allege Mann was operating a vehicle above the posted speed limit on State Route 54 while his New York State driving privileges were suspended.

Mann allegedly possessed suspected methamphetamine, which he attempted to destroy or hide from law enforcement.

Lawton allegedly possessed suspected methamphetamine with the intent to sell it.

Mann is charged with speeding, obstructed view, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

Lawton is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

Both men were arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.

The Village of Bath Police Department assisted in the investigation and arrest.
