Man arrested on DUI charge in Saugerties

SAUGERTIES, NY — A 36-year-old man faces multiple charges including felony assault after allegedly driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest Thursday night.

Spencer A. Schullstrom, of Saugerties, was arrested at approximately 9:05 p.m. on Feb. 6 after police observed him operating his vehicle unsafely on Main Street in the Village of Saugerties.

Following a stop and investigation, Schullstrom was charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, as well as other traffic violations.

While officers attempted to take Schullstrom into custody, he resisted and was additionally charged with felony assault in the second degree, as well as misdemeanors of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Schullstrom refused a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content.

He was processed at the Saugerties Police Department and held pending arraignment at CAP court in Kingston.

During the incident, one Saugerties Police officer was transported to Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston by Diaz Ambulance, where the officer received treatment and was released.
