DAY, NY — State Police arrested a man on multiple sex-related charges involving juveniles.
Melvin L. Gonzalez, 28, of Amsterdam, was arrested Jan. 31, 2026, and charged with three counts of forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor; and two counts of public lewdness, a class B misdemeanor.
Troopers received a report of a past sexual assault on Aug. 12.
The investigation determined that in July, Gonzalez allegedly forcibly touched the intimate parts of multiple juveniles who were known to him while in the town of Day.
Gonzalez also allegedly exposed his intimate parts to the juveniles while in a public location.
Gonzalez surrendered himself to State Police in Fonda, where he was arrested and processed.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Day Town Court on Feb. 11, 2026, and released.
