NIAGARA COUNTY, NY — Law enforcement agencies throughout Niagara County will participate in a coordinated statewide initiative aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and enhancing roadway safety during Super Bowl weekend.
Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti announced the effort on Thursday.
The STOP-DWI Super Bowl Weekend High Visibility Engagement Campaign will take place Sunday, Feb. 8, through Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.
During this period, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, along with local law enforcement agencies countywide, will increase patrols and enforcement to reduce impaired driving and related crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
The campaign is one of several statewide enforcement initiatives supported by STOP-DWI New York and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.
Similar high-visibility campaigns are conducted throughout the year during high-risk periods, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, the holiday season, St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day weekend, and Labor Day weekend.
