PENN YAN, NY — A 55-year-old woman faces felony charges following a drunken driving arrest Friday evening.
Taunja Townsend, of Penn Yan, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. on West Lake Road after deputies received a complaint about a reckless driver in the area of Coates Road.
Deputies located a grey Ford pickup truck swerving and failing to maintain its lane, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies observed several signs of intoxication and administered standardized field sobriety tests.
Townsend was charged with aggravated DWI, a felony, as well as DWI, DWI per se, failure to maintain lane and use of a portable device while driving.
She was transported to the Yates County Jail, where she remained awaiting centralized arraignment court.
Deputies Garren and Fultz responded to the scene.
