COLEBROOK, NH — Two men were arrested on Christmas Day following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and multiple outstanding warrants.

Jonathan Leblanc, 39, of Clarksville, and Spencer Wilson, 55, of Penacook, were taken into custody at approximately 6:25 p.m. on Monadnock Street.

An officer observed Leblanc enter the back seat of a parked vehicle at the Big Apple and knew him to have an active superior court arrest warrant.

The vehicle exited the parking lot and was stopped due to Leblanc being inside and for an obstructed license plate.

Leblanc was removed and taken into custody.

The driver claimed to have left his identification at home, and his information was obtained through other means.

Wilson was identified as the operator, and record checks revealed he was a certified habitual offender, suspended for DUI, and had three active arrest warrants.

Wilson was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.

During an inventory of the vehicle prior to towing, the officer discovered a glass pipe with a white film consistent with methamphetamine or crack cocaine.

The vehicle was sealed and impounded.

Both men were taken to the Colebrook Police Department, where they were booked and later transported to the Coos County Jail.

Wilson was also discovered to be out on bail pending charges from another agency.

A subsequent search warrant was granted for the vehicle, which revealed additional paraphernalia and suspected illicit drugs.

The temporary license plate was discovered to have been falsified by changing the expiration month from 07 to 12 using permanent marker.

Leblanc was charged with arrest on warrant for failure to appear in a drug-related case.

Wilson was charged with altering or displaying an altered plate, unregistered vehicle, failure to display plates, contempt of court, operating after certification as a habitual offender, controlled drug possession, driving after revocation or suspension for DUI, transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, and arrest on three warrants.

Additional charges are expected.
