KEENE, NH — Emergency responders were dispatched to Route 9 in the area of Route 10 on Saturday for a school bus fire.
The bus had been safely evacuated before crews arrived.
The bus was occupied by a Concord high school athletic team that had been participating in a sporting event in Keene.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the engine compartment of the school bus was engulfed in flames.
The fire was brought under control and no injuries were reported.
A separate bus of student athletes leaving the same event and traveling toward Concord was able to transport the displaced student athletes and coaches back to Concord.
Administrators from Concord High School immediately put in place a communication plan to notify parents of the situation.
The school bus, owned by Concord School District Transportation, was towed from the scene.
The Keene Police Department was assisted by the Keene Fire Department, New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
