WILLIAMSON, NY — The New York State Police arrested Thomas G. Witt, 55, of Ontario, following a reported domestic incident at a residence on Ridge Road.
Police responded on December 23 to a report of a domestic dispute that had occurred the previous morning.
An investigation determined that Witt unlawfully entered the residence and engaged in a physical altercation with an adult female victim.
During the incident, Witt allegedly obstructed the victim’s breathing, threatened her with a knife, and prevented her from contacting emergency services.
He also made statements that caused the victim to fear for her life.
Following the investigation, members of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation located Witt at a residence on Route 104 in the town of Ontario.
He was taken into custody there without incident.
Witt was charged with burglary in the first degree: use or threat of use of a dangerous instrument.
He was also charged with strangulation in the second degree and criminal contempt in the first degree: violation of an order of protection with threats or weapon.
Additional charges include criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree: previous conviction, aggravated family offense, and menacing in the second degree.
He was also charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree and harassment in the second degree.
Witt was processed at SP Williamson and transported to Wayne County Jail for CAP arraignment.
