Two arrested on larceny charges in Greece

GREECE, NY — Two men were arrested early Dec. 20 after police say they stole five snowblowers from a Lowe’s store and dragged them behind a pickup truck on West Ridge Road.

Greece Police officers received reports just before 1 a.m. of a red pickup truck driving the wrong way on West Ridge Road, dragging a large object that was sending sparks into the air.

Officers located the vehicle traveling without headlights and still dragging the object.

Police attempted a traffic stop due to the danger to the public, but the vehicle fled.

A brief pursuit ended when the pickup crashed into a gate.

Both occupants were taken into custody without injury.

Nicholas Morales, 33, of Rochester, and Joshua Christ, 39, of Brockport, were each charged with third-degree grand larceny.

Officers found five stolen snowblowers in and hanging out of the pickup truck, all still connected by a cut locking cable.

License plate reader data helped officers trace the truck’s movements to Lowe’s, where evidence confirmed the snowblowers had been stolen from that location.

All five snowblowers were recovered.

Both men were transported to the county jail for arraignment.
