SARATOGA COUNTY, NY — A man was arrested Tuesday night following a high-speed chase on Interstate 87, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Charles E. Griffin Jr., 40, of Albany, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
The Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle stop at 8:49 p.m. on Interstate 87 approaching the southbound off ramp at Exit 15.
Griffin is accused of operating a motor vehicle while his ability to do so was impaired by the use of a drug.
He is also charged with fleeing the scene of the initial traffic stop, allegedly reaching speeds of approximately 110 mph, and of knowingly and unlawfully possessing a controlled substance.
Griffin ultimately stopped his vehicle in the vicinity of Exit 9 and was taken into custody.
He was released on appearance tickets pending proceedings in Clifton Park Town Court and turned over to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office on their warrant.
