OPPENHEIM, NY — State Police arrested a Dolgeville man on a vehicular assault charge in connection with an October motorcycle crash that seriously injured a passenger.

James J. George, 42, of Dolgeville, was arrested Nov. 12 and charged with second-degree vehicular assault.

On Oct. 3 at about 10:17 p.m., State Police from Fonda responded to a report of a motorcycle crash off State Route 331 in Oppenheim.

The investigation determined that the motorcycle operated by George exited the roadway and ejected both himself and his passenger.

George sustained minor injuries, but the passenger was seriously injured.

George was arrested at the scene for driving while intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

He was transported to State Police Fonda for processing where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood.

Due to the extent of the passenger’s injuries, a court order was obtained, and George was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where a blood sample was collected.

The blood sample later determined he had a 0.12% blood alcohol content.

George surrendered himself to State Police Fonda on Nov. 12, where he was processed on the additional charge.

He was arraigned at Oppenheim Town Court where he was released on his own recognizance.
