Woman arrested after pursuit, crash in Hoosick Falls

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — A woman faces multiple felony charges after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing her vehicle early Saturday morning.

Patrolman Surdam attempted to stop a silver four-door sedan traveling westbound on River Street after observing multiple traffic violations in the area of Fifth Street and River Street at approximately 3:31 a.m. on Nov. 1.

The vehicle failed to stop, initiating a high-speed pursuit.

Patrolman Surdam pursued the vehicle on State Route 22 South in the Town of Hoosick, continuing onto State Route 7 westbound, ultimately turning onto Babcock Lake Road, where the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the wood line.

The driver was identified as Christina I. Levine, 42.

Levine was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash.

An inventory of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a large number of narcotics, stimulants, manufacturing and distribution materials constituting intent to sell, according to police.

Levine was also discovered to have a number of narcotics concealed on her body while at the hospital, police said.

Levine was arrested and charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree.

She also received multiple traffic citations.
