WAWARSING, NY — A man was arrested after crashing a stolen ATV on Oct. 29.
Troopers from the Ellenville barracks responded to a one-vehicle ATV collision on Berme Road at approximately 4 p.m.
A 2025 Can-Am ATV was traveling south on Berme Road when the operator lost control and struck a guiderail.
The operator was identified as Jose Aldarondo, 33, of Ellenville.
Troopers determined the ATV had been reported stolen by its owner.
Aldarondo was taken into custody and refused medical attention for his injuries.
He was transported to State Police Ellenville for processing.
Aldarondo was charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, a class D felony; grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, an unclassified misdemeanor; attempted leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a class A misdemeanor; and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was arraigned Oct. 30 in the Town of New Paltz Court and released on his own recognizance.
Aldarondo is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Paltz Court at a later date.
