Two arrested in Greece following fatal overdose investigation

GREECE, NY — A two-month investigation into a fatal overdose has resulted in the arrests of two men and the seizure of multiple firearms, narcotics and cash, Greece Police announced.

The Greece Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division launched the investigation following an overdose death in August.

Detectives identified the victim’s drug supplier through investigative leads and analysis.

On Oct. 22, Greece Police CID, assisted by Greece SWAT and the Drug Enforcement Administration, executed search warrants at residences on Adeline Road and Ridgeway Avenue in Rochester.

At the Adeline Road residence, police recovered four loaded firearms including a Pocket Nine Series 90 9mm, a Glock 43 9mm with a defaced serial number, a Kel Tec 9mm and a Smith & Wesson .38 Special, along with a small bag of cocaine and two magazines.

At the Ridgeway Avenue residence, police seized five firearms including a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, a loaded Walther PK-380, a Cobra Model CA380, and a Taurus 9mm with a defaced serial number, along with approximately 50 grams of cocaine.

Derek J. Hall, 45, of Greece, was charged in Greece with criminal possession of a controlled substance third degree and criminal possession of a weapon second degree.

Hall also faces Rochester charges of three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance third degree, criminal possession of stolen property third degree, criminal possession of a weapon second degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia second degree.

Deche Davis, 45, of Rochester, was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance third degree, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were arraigned and remanded into custody.
