COLEBROOK — A 34-year-old Colebrook man was arrested on his second DUI charge after leading police on a brief chase while driving 73 mph in a 55 mph zone early Friday morning.
Jordan Wheelock was charged with DUI (2nd offense), open container, speeding 16-20 mph over the limit and lane control violation following the incident on Route 3 at 12:05 a.m. Oct. 3.
A Colebrook police officer on patrol observed Wheelock’s vehicle traveling 18 mph over the speed limit and attempted to initiate a traffic stop near Hughes Road.
The vehicle failed to yield and did not stop until reaching the Merrill Street area.
Before stopping, the officer observed the vehicle swerving within its lane and onto the shoulder of the roadway.
The officer determined through observation and roadside testing that Wheelock was impaired and arrested him.
Wheelock was transported to the Colebrook Police Department where he was booked and later bailed.
Due to his intoxicated state, Wheelock was then transported to the Grafton County Jail and placed in protective custody.
