Boat catches fire after hitting power lines in Porter

PORTER — A boat caught fire after making contact with power lines while being backed into a driveway Monday afternoon, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to 902 Balmer Road at approximately 1:12 p.m. Oct. 6 after receiving reports of a boat on fire.

When patrol units arrived, they found a 2006 Sea Ray boat fully engulfed in flames.

The Youngstown Fire Company responded and extinguished the blaze.

The investigation revealed the trailered boat was being backed into the driveway when it came in contact with power lines, setting the vessel on fire.

The boat appeared to be a total loss.

There was no damage to the pickup truck that was towing the boat and no injuries were reported.
