Schenectady man arrested on burglary, larceny charges at Wilton Walmart

WILTON — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 45-year-old Schenectady man Wednesday night on felony charges following a larceny call at Walmart.

Nathanyel P. Melanson was charged with burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Deputies responded to the active larceny call at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilton Walmart.

Melanson is accused of knowingly entering and remaining unlawfully within the building with intent to commit a crime.

He had allegedly been previously informed by the business that he did not have permission to be on the premises.

Melanson is also charged with stealing merchandise valued at more than $1,000 and knowingly and unlawfully possessing heroin.

He was released pending arraignment in Wilton Town Court.
