EAST AURORA — East Aurora Police patrol units observed a motorcycle turn from Hamburg Street onto Oakwood Avenue in the Village of East Aurora after traveling at a high rate of speed at 2:38 a.m. Saturday.
Officers observed both the operator of the motorcycle and the passenger to be wearing no helmet.
The motorcycle continued eastbound on Oakwood Avenue.
Officers initiated a traffic stop on Oakwood Avenue and the motorcyclist failed to stop.
Officers pursued the motorcycle through multiple side streets in the Village of East Aurora.
The motorcycle eventually collided with a curb on Nye Hill Road and the operator and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.
The operator and passenger were administered first aid at the scene by East Aurora Fire Department and AMR ambulance service.
Both the operator and passenger were transported by AMR ambulance service to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, East Aurora Police charged Jose Vasquez, age 20, of East Aurora with driving while intoxicated, unlawful fleeing a police officer in the 3rd degree, reckless driving and several violation level Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
East Aurora Police were assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
Vasquez is scheduled for arraignment in the Town of Aurora court on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.
