CATSKILL — A 41-year-old Catskill man was arrested following an investigation into possession and promotion of child sexual abuse material.
Kristopher E. Clearwater-Ross faces multiple felony charges including two counts of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age.
He was also charged with possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16 years old and possessing access to view such material.
The investigation began in July 2024 after New York State Police received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
A search warrant was executed at Clearwater-Ross’s residence on Oct. 1.
The arrest resulted from a joint investigation by New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Catskill, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Clearwater-Ross was arraigned in Athens Town Court and remanded to Greene County Jail.
Bail was set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $300,000 partially secured bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
