NORTHUMBERLAND — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a loud explosion Saturday at 8:41 p.m. on Starks Knob Road.
Investigation into the matter revealed that several people were having a bonfire in the vicinity when at least one metal drum containing combustible material exploded.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the presence of the drum was not known to the people hosting the fire.
Two victims were transported by private vehicle to Saratoga Hospital for evaluation and treatment of burn injuries.
One was subsequently transferred by EMS to the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
The investigation is ongoing.
