Branchport basement fire causes minimal damage

BRANCHPORT — First responders were called to 1985 Keech Road in the Town of Jerusalem for a basement fire on Sept. 24 at approximately 3:42 p.m.

Fire personnel arrived on scene to find light smoke in the basement.

The fire originated at the electrical panel but was contained to a small portion of the basement, causing minimal damage.

No injuries occurred.

The homeowner was identified as John Grabski, 65, of 1985 Keech Road, Branchport.

Agencies responding included the Branchport Keuka Park Fire Department, Benton Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance and Yates County Office of Emergency Management.

Deputy C. Hansen of the Yates County Sheriff’s Office was on scene.
