Glenmont police chase ends with 3 arrests at soccer park

GLENMONT — Officers from the Bethlehem Police Department responded to Walmart at 311 Route 9W on Tuesday at approximately 6 p.m. for a report of a larceny in progress.

The suspect vehicle, a blue Ford Escape, was observed exiting the parking lot.

The first officer on scene attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed south on Route 9W.

The vehicle continued to flee west on Feura Bush Road until it drove down an embankment and onto the occupied soccer fields at Elm Ave Park.

The occupants of the vehicle exited the car and fled on foot into the wooded area surrounding the park.

Officers searched the area and all three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.

April A. Mahoney, 49, of Troy, New York, who was driving, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, second-degree reckless endangerment, petit larceny, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, reckless driving, sixth-degree conspiracy and numerous other vehicle and traffic law charges.

Roger K. Chapman, 36, of Albany, New York, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for possessing MDMA, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and sixth-degree conspiracy.

Jessica L. Perry, 41, of Albany, New York, was charged with resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and sixth-degree conspiracy.

All three suspects were arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court by Judge Erin Lynch.

Mahoney and Chapman were remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility and a preliminary hearing was set for Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.

Perry was released under the supervision of Albany County Probation Department.

A return date was set for Oct. 21 in the Town of Bethlehem Court for all three suspects.

During the investigation, there was evidence of additional larcenies that occurred at multiple other business establishments throughout the Town of Bethlehem.

Perry and Mahoney also had additional open cases and warrants in other jurisdictions.
