NEWPORT — The Vermont Land Trust has opened applications for the 2025 archery hunting season at Bluffside Farm in Newport, with a deadline of September 19.
The hunt will be archery-only due to Newport City’s ordinance banning firearms. Hunting will be permitted during three periods: October 8 to November 14, November 15 to November 30, and December 1 to December 15.
All hunting requires written permission and must take place only in designated portions of the property, away from neighboring houses. The Vermont Land Trust requires hunters to carry written permission at all times.
Visitors should be aware that hunters may be present during designated periods and should wear proper safety attire. VLT will post reminders at the property during hunting seasons.
Bluffside Farm is located at 171 Scott Farm Road in Newport. The Vermont Land Trust purchased the farm in 2015 and opened it to public use for walking, skiing, outdoor education and community gardening in addition to hunting.
Applications and more information are available at vlt.org/hunt. Questions can be directed to (802) 745-6303.
The application deadline is September 19.
