MALDEN — The Malden Police Department is investigating a theft that occurred when two men entered a local business Monday at approximately 4:45 p.m.
While one man distracted the employee by asking questions, the second man removed a Rolex watch from its box, which was sitting on the counter after leading the employee to believe they were going to purchase it, and concealed it in his pocket.
After the theft, both suspects fled on foot down Eastern Avenue toward Hillside Avenue.
Police believe they may have entered a motor vehicle parked in the area.
The incident has been assigned case number IC 25004076.
Detective Renee Kelley is serving as the lead investigator.
Police are asking anyone who lives or owns a business in the area and has security cameras or video footage that may have captured the individuals or a possible getaway vehicle to contact Malden Police Detectives.
