Broome County sheriff’s office reports 17 arrests in weekly roundup

BINGHAMTON — The Broome County Sheriff’s Office announced 17 arrests on various charges in its weekly report released Monday.

The most serious charges were filed against Kurt G. Compton, 36, of Lisle, who faces two counts of first-degree rape and multiple weapons charges following an investigation in the Town of Nanticoke.

Compton was charged with two counts of rape in the first degree, seven counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, 37 counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Several arrests involved driving while intoxicated charges.

Michael P. Benza, 24, of Binghamton, was charged with driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree following a traffic stop in Binghamton.

Damien M. Brown, 22, of Binghamton, faces driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content above 0.08, along with traffic violations, after a motor vehicle accident investigation in the Town of Dickinson.

Ethan P. Brown, 23, of Port Crane, was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content above 0.18 following a traffic stop in the Town of Chenango.

Michael J. Peterson, 51, of Endwell, was charged with driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree after a traffic stop in the Village of Endicott.

Other arrests included fraud and theft charges.

Rakim E. Walker-Russell, 24, of Binghamton, was charged with possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree following a fraud investigation in the Town of Chenango.

James G. Roberts, 29, of Binghamton, faces petit larceny charges after a larceny investigation in the Town of Union.

Several domestic-related arrests were reported.

Colonel C. Watkins III, 43, of the Town of Dickinson, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and harassment in the second degree following a domestic dispute investigation.

Adam K. Smith, 46, of Binghamton, was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree after a domestic incident investigation in the Town of Dickinson.

Margaret A. Will, 41, of Windsor, faces harassment in the second degree charges following a domestic incident investigation in the Town of Windsor.

Additional arrests included various misdemeanor charges.

Rylan A. Cremard, 18, of Windsor, was charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree and traffic violations following a pursuit and traffic stop in the Town of Windsor.

Daniel J. Dayton, 39, was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree following a trespassing investigation in the Village of Endicott.

Carlos E. De La Cruz-Ravines, 30, of Binghamton, faces criminal contempt in the second degree charges after a traffic stop in Binghamton.

Jacob D. Finnerty, 20, of McDonough, was charged with assault in the third degree following a dispute investigation in the Town of Fenton.

Michael A. Jenks Jr., 35, of Chenango Forks, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree after a traffic stop in Binghamton.

Maxwell W. Ginty Jr., 35, of Chenango, faces resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree charges following a warrant execution in Binghamton.

Karaena M. Rought, 24, was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree following a trespassing investigation in the Village of Endicott.
