COLEBROOK — A 32-year-old Columbia man was arrested on a probation violation after police found him highly intoxicated at a local inn Tuesday night.

Brian Blanchard Jr. was taken into custody at the RiverEdge Inn at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 3 following a police investigation into a report involving Blanchard and a female he was staying with possibly engaged in illegal activities.

During the investigation, officers discovered Blanchard was highly intoxicated, which directly violated his probation terms that prohibited him from being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Probation Officer Aubut was contacted and ordered Blanchard to submit to a preliminary breath test, which indicated an alcohol concentration of 0.15.

Based on the test results and observations by the responding officer, Blanchard was ordered held and transported to the Coos County Jail, where he remains.

Blanchard is charged with violation of probation.
