COLEBROOK — A Canaan man was arrested by Colebrook police at 8:11 p.m. on Aug. 28 following the report of a wanted fugitive hiding behind the old bank downtown in Stewartstown.
Jeremiah Houle, 22, of Canaan, was found asleep in the reported area when officers arrived on scene and was placed into custody while still sleeping.
A search of Houle led to the discovery of a large amount of drug paraphernalia, including syringes and a burnt spoon with residue, as well as a plastic bag containing a powdery substance believed to be fentanyl.
Houle was wanted on multiple Colebrook-issued arrest warrants, including possession of a controlled drug, transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, disobeying an officer, driving after suspension, reckless operation, operating a motorcycle without a license, stop sign violation, yellow line violation, failure to display plates, improper passing, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and two electronic bench warrants.
He was booked at the Colebrook Police Department and refused bail.
Houle was later transported to Coos County Jail, where he is being held pending trial.
Police said that additional charges related to this arrest are expected.
