Binghamton man arrested on weapons charges after motorcycle chase

BINGHAMTON — A 28-year-old man faces multiple felony charges after leading deputies on a motorcycle chase through the city Wednesday night.

Brian Harrison Jr. of Binghamton was arrested following a pursuit that began just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 27, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Strategic Response Group observed a motorcycle with improper registration plates on Jarvis Street and attempted a traffic stop.

The motorcycle operator failed to comply and led deputies on a chase throughout the city for just under 10 minutes.

Harrison lost control of the motorcycle near Recreation Park and attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody after a short pursuit.

Deputies found Harrison in illegal possession of a loaded Taurus .45 caliber handgun and a quantity of methamphetamine.

Harrison was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, criminal possession of a weapon 4th degree, criminal possession of a firearm in a sensitive location, obstruction of governmental administration in the 2nd degree, unlawful fleeing a police officer in the 3rd degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree.
