COLEBROOK — A Colebrook police officer arrested a 42-year-old Laconia woman on drug charges after finding her unconscious in a running vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot early Saturday morning.
Raeven Checkos was charged with possession of controlled drug and transporting drugs in a motor vehicle following the incident at 1:58 a.m. on Aug. 24.
Police said an officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the middle of the parking lot with its reverse lights on and a woman unconscious behind the wheel.
The officer noted the woman was breathing normally and observed multiple glass pipes consistent with methamphetamine use scattered throughout the car.
The officer positioned his cruiser behind the vehicle and placed his push bumper against the car’s rear bumper to prevent the driver from potentially crashing into the store if startled.
After backup from the U.S. Border Patrol arrived, Checkos was removed from the vehicle and administered standardized field sobriety tests.
A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine and a large bag of paraphernalia, including a glass smoking device believed to contain liquid methamphetamine.
Checkos was taken to the Colebrook Police Department where she was booked and later released on bail pending arraignment.
