SLOAN — Officers from the Cheektowaga Police Department responded to a home on Lackawanna Avenue shortly before 10:30 a.m. July 20 for reports of gunfire.
A 2-year-old was injured by gunfire and was immediately transported to Children’s Hospital.
The child is undergoing surgery.
Details are still emerging on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and a search is underway for any additional victims.
An investigation is ongoing, and one person of interest is being detained.
The early investigation strongly suggests there is no threat to the public at large.
