GREENWICH — A driver was arrested for reckless driving Wednesday after police clocked his Tesla traveling 96 mph in a 30 mph residential zone on Lake Avenue.

Officer Podmokly was conducting stationary speed enforcement at approximately 4:45 p.m. when he observed the gray Tesla sedan traveling northbound, according to Greenwich police.

The vehicle’s speed was detected using a radar unit while the officer was parked.

The Tesla operator immediately slowed upon noticing the police cruiser and continued at a reasonable speed.

No other vehicles were traveling northbound at the time.

Police initiated a motor vehicle stop and pulled over the Tesla on Old Mill Road.

The driver was identified as Guy Henry Landers.

Landers was placed under arrest for reckless driving due to the excessive speed.

He was charged with reckless driving under Connecticut General Statute 14-222 for operating a vehicle more than 85 mph.

Landers posted bond and was released with a court appearance scheduled at Stamford Superior Court.
