PENN YAN — Vernell S. Moore, 30, of Rochester, was arrested by Penn Yan Police during a traffic stop on Clinton Street.
Moore was a passenger in the vehicle and while stopped he discarded a clear plastic bag from his person into a row of bushes that were roadside in an attempt to conceal the bag from officers.
Officers located the bag and found it to contain a suspected controlled substance.
Moore was taken into custody and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E Felony.
Moore was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
Additional charges are pending.
