FALL RIVER — A 41-year-old Fall River man was arrested on drunken driving charges after crashing his vehicle into a Kinder Care daycare building early Thursday morning.
Eric Brasidio was found seated inside his vehicle at approximately 12:40 a.m. after officers responded to a report of a vehicle into the building.
Police said Brasidio initially struck a fire hydrant at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Seventh Street, leaving behind a license plate.
After blowing out a tire, he continued driving on the rim until reaching the daycare, where his vehicle came to rest.
Brasidio appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests before being placed under arrest, police said.
He was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage and marked lanes violation.
Brasidio was treated at a local hospital before being transported to the Fall River Police Department.
The Fall River Building Inspector and Water Department responded due to structural and infrastructure concerns caused by the crash.
The daycare was not occupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
