EVERETT — Everett police arrested a 36-year-old Quincy man Saturday evening after recovering a stolen firearm during a traffic stop that began with reckless driving.
Marcus Alexander Williams was taken into custody following a pursuit that began when Officer Uga observed a vehicle speeding and driving through stop signs.
Uga attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled into Chelsea, prompting him to end the pursuit.
Officer Palermo later spotted the same vehicle returning to Everett and initiated another pursuit before officers successfully stopped the suspect’s car.
Williams exited the vehicle at officers’ command, and police observed a black firearm on the ground.
When asked if he had a license to carry, Williams did not respond, and a check of the CJIS system confirmed he did not possess a valid license.
A further investigation revealed the firearm was reported stolen from Boston.
Williams was transported to Everett police headquarters without incident.
He was charged with receiving stolen property (firearm), multiple firearms-related charges and motor vehicle offenses.
Williams was arraigned Monday in Malden District Court.
