2 juveniles arrested after stolen car chase in Wheatfield

WHEATFIELD — Two juvenile males were arrested June 24 after leading deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle through the town.

Deputy Salada observed a suspicious vehicle at 3:42 a.m. while on routine patrol near Cayuga Drive and 95th Street, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled eastbound on Cayuga Drive.

A pursuit began when the vehicle failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens.

The vehicle turned south on Williams Road at a high rate of speed.

It then turned left on River Road and continued eastbound.

The vehicle attempted to turn left onto Witmer Road but came to a stop in the middle of the intersection.

Deputies surrounded the vehicle and took both occupants into custody without incident.

The vehicle was a 2018 black Kia Optima with a damaged ignition console.

The registered owner was notified and reported the vehicle stolen from North Tonawanda.

The juveniles were charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree and multiple vehicle and traffic offenses.

Both were released to their parents on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Youth Part Court.
