WILTON — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 34-year-old Greenfield man Thursday after he rear-ended another vehicle on U.S. Route 9 following a driving complaint.

Joseph S. Gilligan was charged with DWAI-drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree and moving from lane unsafely.

Deputies received the driving complaint at 1:05 p.m. and located Gilligan’s vehicle after it struck another car from behind on Route 9.

Gilligan is accused of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

The DWAI-drugs charge was elevated to a class E felony due to a previous conviction within the past 10 years.

He was also charged with operating while impaired at a time when his license was revoked for DWAI-drugs.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Gilligan was arraigned before Judge Chad Jerome in Wilton Town Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
