BROADALBIN — A 21-year-old woman died Monday evening when her jet ski collided with a pontoon boat on Great Sacandaga Lake just north of the Broadalbin Boat Launch.
Grace Clark, who was born in Texas and graduated from Schalmont High School, was declared dead at the scene by Fulton County Deputy Coroner Sherry Brown.
Her passenger, Caleb Cummings, 29, of Schoharie County, was injured and hospitalized at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Communication Center began receiving calls reporting a possible boat accident with one or two individuals in the water.
Preliminary investigation indicates Clark’s jet ski collided with a pontoon boat traveling at approximately 20 m.p.h.
The speed of the jet ski remains under investigation.
Several people were on the pontoon boat, but none were injured.
There was no indication of alcohol or drug involvement by the boat operator, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
The boat operator, passengers and Cummings have been cooperative with investigators.
An autopsy was completed Tuesday, with results to include a blood screen from the victim.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating along with New York State Environmental Conservation Officers, State Police, the State Police Dive Team and Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple fire departments, rescue teams and emergency medical services assisted at the scene.
