Man arrested on burglary, stolen property charges in Harrietstown

HARRIETSTOWN — New York State Police arrested a Philadelphia man on burglary and stolen property charges after responding to a trespass complaint Thursday afternoon.

Police responded to 2 St. Regis Carry Road in the Town of Harrietstown at approximately 1:30 p.m. June 19 for the trespass complaint.

Upon arrival, police interviewed the property caretaker who reported an unknown individual was found sleeping in a vehicle parked within a shed on the property.

The individual was identified as Jamil J. Dabney, 42, of Philadelphia.

Another individual was located on the property and appeared to be under the influence of illicit drugs.

Due to his apparent condition and inability to care for himself, he was transported to Adirondack Medical Center via ambulance for further evaluation.

Further investigation determined the vehicle Dabney was sleeping in was reported stolen from Pennsylvania.

Dabney was arrested and processed at State Police Ray Brook for one count of burglary in the third degree and one count of criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.

Dabney was arraigned in Harrietstown Town Court and released on his own recognizance with a return date of July 21 at 11 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
