BOSTON — Two Dorchester men were arrested Wednesday following a police investigation into a violent incident that led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and ammunition.
Freddiel Ramos, 21, and Jan Casanova, 23, were taken into custody by officers from District C-11 and the Youth Violence Strike Force.
The arrests stem from an investigation that began June 10 when officers responded to a report of a group of individuals with weapons chasing and allegedly assaulting a victim behind a residence on Topliff Street.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for an apartment at 111 Devon Street in Dorchester and executed it June 11.
The search yielded a loaded Glock firearm equipped with a laser sight, a 31-round DURAMAG magazine loaded with .223 caliber ammunition, a separate pistol magazine and multiple rounds of ammunition including a dummy round.
Police also recovered personal identification documents, a Daisy BB gun, a gray Nike sweatshirt and additional personal paperwork.
A vehicle believed to have been used in the incident was transported to District C-11 for processing, but no additional evidence was recovered from it.
Ramos faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (firearm), unlawful possession of ammunition without an FID card and possession of a large capacity feeding device.
Casanova is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (firearm).
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
