Jason Metras, 47, of Troy, was charged with unlawful mischief, aiding in commission of felony, and criminal threatening.

Police received a call at approximately 12:42 p.m. from April Robidoux, 43, who reported that Metras had smashed the windows of her car and residence with an axe.

Troopers responded and determined that Metras and Debonville had initially come to the residence to retrieve property.

The two men left but returned shortly after and began threatening resident Jabez Bean, 40, making him fear for his safety, police said.

Debonville then pointed a firearm at John Bean, 75, another resident, and threatened him while demanding a firearm, according to police.

Metras, Debonville and a female companion fled in a white sedan after Robidoux called 911.

Orleans County Sheriff’s deputies later located the vehicle on Vermont Route 100 in Troy and conducted a traffic stop with assistance from state troopers and Newport Police Department officers.

Police determined that Debonville was a convicted felon disqualified from possessing a firearm.

The firearm used by Debonville was later found on the side of Loop Road in Troy.

Both men were arrested and transported to the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks for processing.

Metras and Debonville were held without bail and transported to Northern State Correctional Facility.
