MALDEN — The Malden Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has disrupted a drug distribution operation in the city.

Detective Kevin Russell led the investigation that resulted in the seizure of dozens of pills believed to be oxycodone, a Class B controlled substance.

Investigators also confiscated thousands of dollars in cash and a firearm during the operation.

A 33-year-old Malden resident was arrested and charged in connection with the case.

Police executed a search warrant as part of the investigation.

The department cited concerns about street pills potentially being laced with fentanyl as motivation for swift action in the case.
