FALL RIVER — Three men were arrested on firearm charges Sunday night after police responded to reports of a possible gunshot and a man with a gun at a housing development.
Members of the Fall River Police Department’s Housing Unit were dispatched to Maple Gardens Housing Development at approximately 10 p.m. June 8 following the report.
Call notes indicated that a gunshot had been heard and that several juveniles reported seeing a male with a firearm in the area.
C.A.S.T. detectives responded and observed a group of individuals gathered in Maple Gardens Housing Development.
Detectives recognized 18-year-old Elias Ramos walking away from the group and entering the front passenger seat of a gray Honda Accord.
Ramos was seen wearing a crossbody bag across his chest before the vehicle quickly left the scene with its taillights off.
A brief investigation led to a motor vehicle stop of the Honda Accord.
At the time of the stop, Ramos was no longer wearing the crossbody bag.
The vehicle’s occupants were identified as Elias Ramos, 18; Steven Collazo Martinez, 19; and William McCarthy, 21.
The crossbody bag was located in the back seat.
A pat frisk of the bag revealed the weight and shape consistent with a firearm.
A Polymer 80 9mm handgun loaded with five live rounds in a six-round magazine was recovered from inside the bag.
Also located inside the vehicle was a large 3D printer.
Although no evidence of a gunshot was found at the scene in Maple Gardens, all three individuals were placed under arrest.
Steven Collazo Martinez was charged with carrying firearm without license, carrying loaded firearm without license, possession of unregistered firearm and firearm violation with one prior violent/drug offense.
Elias Ramos was charged with carrying firearm without license, carrying loaded firearm without license and possession of unregistered firearm.
William McCarthy was charged with carrying firearm without license, carrying loaded firearm without license and possession of unregistered firearm.
