Everett police seize 1,500 grams of fentanyl in drug trafficking investigation

EVERETT — The Everett Police Special Criminal Investigations Unit executed several search warrants Monday as part of an investigation into fentanyl distribution throughout the Greater Boston area.

The warrants were served in Lynn and Swampscott following an investigation led by the Everett SCIU.

The searches resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of approximately 1,500 grams of fentanyl and about $1,500 in U.S. currency.

Luis Alfredo Mercedes of Swampscott was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl over 200 grams.

Mercedes was processed by the Lynn Police Department.

The Lynn, Swampscott and Revere police departments provided assistance during the investigation.

The Everett Police K-9 unit and Suffolk County Sheriff K-9 unit also assisted in the operation.
