FALL RIVER — Members of the Fall River Police Department’s Gang Unit executed a search warrant Thursday that led to the seizure of a loaded handgun and the arrest of a 23-year-old man.
Police targeted Jazer Hernandez Vergara during the June 5 operation at a residence in the 1500 block of Rodman Street.
The department’s Emergency Services Unit supported the Gang Unit during the search.
Detectives recovered a Glock 26 9mm handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition from inside the residence.
Hernandez Vergara was ineligible to obtain a license to carry due to prior firearm-related convictions, police said.
He was charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a firearm with two prior violent/drug crime convictions.
