Ontario man arrested on rape charges involving child

WILLIAMSON — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested a Wayne County man following an investigation into a complaint of sexual abuse involving a child in the town of Ontario.

On June 4, troopers arrested David J. Smith, age 76, of Ontario, for two counts of first-degree rape, a class B felony.

The investigation determined that Smith allegedly subjected a child under the age of 11 to sexual contact at his residence.

Smith was processed at State Police Williamson and transported to Wayne County CAP Court for arraignment.

He was remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

An order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim.
