Lake Region Union High School names new Assistant Principal

ORLEANS — Lake Region Union High School has announced David Manning as its new assistant principal.

Manning brings 29 years of experience in Vermont public schools to his new role. He lives in Hyde Park with two teenage sons and has an adult son who lives in New York.

Manning began his career as a mental health counselor with the Morrisville school system before becoming a guidance counselor at Peoples Academy. He then served as guidance director and assistant principal at Hazen Union School in Hardwick.

During his time in high schools, Manning developed a passion for connecting with students and found fulfillment in building relationships with teens, guiding them through challenges and helping them develop into young adults ready to succeed.

For the past 16 years, Manning served as principal at Johnson Elementary School. As the only administrator in the small, rural school, he gained experience in all aspects of school operations, from transportation and food service to curriculum and supporting students with positive behavior and engagement.

Manning has consistently worked to create environments where all students and their caregivers feel supported and empowered to succeed. He expressed excitement about joining the school community and contributing to Lake Region Union High School’s educational mission.
