MIDDLETOWN — A West Springfield, Massachusetts, man was arrested May 28 on multiple sexual assault charges following a lengthy investigation.
Derrick Gaither, 59, faces three counts of first-degree sexual assault, four counts of risk of injury to a minor, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and one count of criminal attempt to commit first-degree sexual assault.
Police developed probable cause that Gaither had sexual contact with three minor children in Middletown between 2011 and 2017.
Gaither was held on a $3 million bond in this case.
At the time of his arrest, he was already in custody of the Connecticut Department of Corrections on a separate arrest by Enfield police.
An arrest is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
