Jamestown police seize fentanyl pills, firearm in arrest on Newland Avenue

JAMESTOWN — Jamestown Police arrested Marquan D. Cunningham-Carper on May 20 at about 1:40 p.m. outside Pronto Mart at 631 Newland Ave., taking him into custody on a warrant for criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Just before his detention, Cunningham-Carper was seen discarding a baggie containing about 4.25 ounces of fentanyl pills.

Police obtained a search warrant for Cunningham-Carper’s residence at 15 Columbia Ave. Lower Apartment, which was executed by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force with assistance from the SWAT team.

Officers entered the apartment and found no one else inside.

A search of the residence and Cunningham-Carper’s person led to the seizure of Lorazepam pills, digital scales, cutting agents, $550 in cash, cell phones, a .38 Special revolver and a high capacity pistol magazine.

Cunningham-Carper faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second, third and seventh degrees, two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, in addition to the arrest warrant.

Assisting agencies included the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkirk Police Department and Jamestown Fire Department.
